First YouTube Video on Solvr

We discovered the first YouTube video on Solvr. The channel is named Lackland ISD which stands for Lackland Independent School District.
The video is the first video tutorial we found ever on the web. It misses some points, e.g. they use a problem-box for entering an idea and seem not to have uses the great color-change from Solvr. Maybe nobody understands it :-). However, they use Solvr for a highly relevant problem: Dealing with budget shortage. We are happy to contribute to solve problems in any way.
Thanks for the tutorial and good luck.

The Linked In Advertisement Experience

Hi, this post is different. This time we speak about marketing.

We got one of these 100$ free Linked-In Ad vouchers. We decided to spend it on Solvr. After registering for the 'free' voucher, they charged us 5$, we have no idea for what.

We ran ads from 2011-01-08 until 2011-02-06 with these settings:
  • Rotate Ad Variations:Rotate Variations Evenly
  • Target Audience: 8,184
  • Group:Knowledge Management Experts, Knowledge Managers, Information & Knowledge Management Executive Network, Global Society for Knowledge Management, Influence Diagrams, Belief/Bayesian Nets, Causality & Bayes Theorem, Debate Politica 2.0, The Police Debate, Welcoming Argument Visualisation to Europe (WAVE), more...
  • Show:Continuously
  • Daily Budget: $10.00
  • Bid Type: Pay Per Click
  • Maximum Bid: $3.00 per Click (CPC)
  • Overall, we had 58652 ad impressions, 18 clicks. That is a CTR of 0,031%.
We ran 7 ad variations. Each person in our target group must have seen the Solvr ad on average 7 times.
Our data table as shown by LinkedIn looks like this:

We created the first 4 ads at the same time, adding the other ones later.

What can we conclude from this data? Probably not much. We tried anyways and 'found out':

    • The Title Should Have Proper Title Casing
    • "(Free)" in the title is useless but seems also not to hurt
    • Simpler title messages seem to work better
    • Action text such as "Solve your problems..." seems far better than "A tool for X and Y"
    • "Try with 1 click" on its own seems unconvincing -- people seem to think "Yeah, just one click until that sign up form comes"
    • "Secret..." seems to be a very bad idea

    Maintenance Work (UPDATE)

Our hosting company changed their infrastructure setup quite suddenly.
We need to rewrite some parts of solvr and will be back online on
    April 14.

    UPDATE:

Our hosting company moved us from one server to another, but we currently cannot log in to the new server. We will likely have a further down-time of 2-3 days, waiting mostly for notice from the hosting company and DNS servers to refresh. Sorry, The Solvr Team.
